The 2024 edition of the Campbell cup saw 8 boats on the start line.
As the breeze appeared to build up before the start, the race committee chose the long race course sending participants all the way to the Santa Monica buoy (well... where it used to be).
Moments before the start, the breeze went from light to near zero. Precious minutes were spent trying to cross the line. Sunshine was soon able to fly her asymmetric and took off while most of the fleet struggled.
October often disappoints with light breezes such that the time limit does come into play. However, this year's light breeze did build up and clocked right to the north as the participants approached Santa Monica pier.
Sunshine took away the trophy - a bottle of rhum. Too bad Lenny does not drink. Anyone for Campbell tomato soup?
